Netball Jamaica President Tricia Robinson has lauded the recently concluded Supreme Ventures Divisional Leagues as a resounding success, as she described the season as a powerful testament to the sport’s continued growth, discipline, and community spirit.
The curtains came down on a thrilling season on Saturday, May 24, at the Leila Robinson Courts, where fans witnessed a high-energy finale that showcased the best of Jamaican netball. Jamalco, coached by veteran tactician Winston Nevers, captured the Major League crown after a heart-stopping 46-45 comeback victory over Rockerz, led by Kurt Dale.
The evening’s heroics included a standout performance from Jamalco’s goalkeeper, Paula-Ann Burton, whose dominant display earned her the Final MVP award. Tivoli rounded out the top three with a decisive third-place playoff win earlier in the day.
Robinson, beaming with pride, praised everyone involved in making the season a success.
"This season was truly special. The competitiveness, discipline, and growth we’ve witnessed on and off the court have been phenomenal,” Robinson said.
"These leagues are the lifeblood of our netball community, and we thank all the clubs, coaches, and supporters for their dedication. A heartfelt thank you to Supreme Ventures for their unwavering support in elevating local netball," she added.
The day’s action also included gripping finals across multiple divisions. In the Minor League, Speg “B” dominated Global “B” 36-21, while Jobs Lane edged Maxfield “B” 34-32 in a double-overtime thriller in the Intermediate “B” League. Police “A” secured the Intermediate “A” League title with a tight 35-32 win over Liguanea “A”.
The excitement didn’t end there. In a fitting celebration of the sport, 18 teams that missed the playoffs competed in the “Last Chance Rally” sponsored by Mitsubishi Motors, which featured cash prizes and crowd-pleasing moments. Police “B” topped the rally, followed by Maxfield “A” and Liguanea “B”.
Chloleen Daley-Muschett, AVP PR and Corporate Affairs at Supreme Ventures Limited, echoed the sense of pride in supporting grassroots netball.
