Under-17 Reggae Boy Seymour Reid was named the MLS NEXT Pro player of the week on Wednesday after a hat-trick in NYCFC II’s 5-2 win over New York Red Bulls II at the Belson Stadium in Queens last Friday.
The 17-year-old found the net in the sixth, 64th and 68th minutes to take his tally this season to seven goals in 10 games and secure his side’s third win of the season.
Reid, who also made his MLS debut for NYCFC against Columbus Crew on March 22, becoming the youngest MLS debutant in the club’s history, was a standout player for Jamaica at the CONCACAF U17 Championships in Honduras earlier this year.
He scored three goals in three games as Jamaica finished one win away from qualification for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, losing their final game 2-1 to El Salvador.
