Taylor, Levell comfortable in men’s 200m semis at National Champs; Moore fastest through to women’s final

Titans Track Club’s Christopher Taylor and Uptimum’s Bryan Levell both looked comfortable in their respective semi-finals of the men’s 200m on Saturday’s third day of the JAAA/Puma National Senior and Junior Championships at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Taylor, a semifinalist in the 100m on Friday, was fastest with his 20.50 to win the third semi-final ahead of Sprintec’s Kadrian Goldson (20.76) who was sixth in Friday’s 100m final.

Levell, who was eighth in the 100m after pulling up, looks to have recovered well as he easily won the second semi-final in 20.51 ahead of SWEPT Track Club’s Tyquendo Tracey (20.79).

Four men advanced from the first semi-final won by Adrian Kerr in 20.75 ahead of New Era Track Club’s Odaine Crooks (20.79), MVP’s Michael Campbell (20.81) and Shevioe Reid (20.83).

On the women’s side, Sprintec’s Ashanti Moore was the fastest in the semis with her 22.92 to win the third heat ahead of Gabrielle Matthews of the University of Florida (23.28).

Heat one saw Elite Performance’s Kemba Nelson (23.39) and Adidas’ Niesha Burgher (23.45) make it through while the second heat saw only UWI’s Roniesha McGregor (23.37) advancing.

Sprintec’s Jodean Williams (23.42) and John Smith Athletics’ Briana Williams (23.54) advanced from heat four.

Both finals are set for Sunday at 8:05pm and 8:15pm, respectively.
