Rahmanullah Gurbaz and captain Imran Tahir played starring roles to help the Guyana Amazon Warriors defeat the Central Districts 66 runs for their first win of the 2025 Global Super League at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Friday.

The Amazon Warriors posted 158-6 from their 20 overs after being put in to bat by Central Districts captain Tom Bruce.

Gurbaz, in his usual position at the top of the order, led the scoring with 58 off 47 balls including three fours and two sixes.

He got excellent support from young Jewel Andrew who hit 45 off 29 balls including three fours and a six.

The pair combined to put on 84 for the third wicket after the wicket of Moeen Ali in the fourth over.

Off spinner Angus Schaw picked up 2-24 from three overs while Matthew Forde bagged 2-34 in his four overs.

Captain Imran Tahir then starred with a four-wicket haul to lead a demolition job of the New Zealand-based side for just 92 in 14.2 overs.

Will Young (26), Forde (24) and Schaw (11) were the only batsmen to get double figures as Tahir finished with figures of 4-23 from his four overs.

Medium pacers Dwayne Pretorius and David Wiese also bowled excellently in support of their skipper.

Pretorius picked up 3-18 from his four overs while Wiese took 2-13 from 2.2 overs.
