Barbados Under-19s maintained their perfect record through four matches on their quest to defend their West Indies Rising Stars Men’s Under-19 50-Over Championship with a tense four-wicket win over Jamaica Under-19s at St. Paul’s Sports Complex on Saturday.

The Bajans dismissed Jamaica for just 124 in 29.3 overs after Jamaican captain Brian Barnes elected to bat after winning the toss.

Barnes was the only batsman to pass 20 with his 42 off 41 balls as Khomari Griffith led the bowling effort for Barbados with 4-14 from his seven overs of off-spin while pacer R’Jai Gittens and fellow off-spinner Xaundre Baptiste picked up two wickets, each.

Barbados then lost six wickets on their way to 126 in 28.1 overs.

Zachary Carter led the scoring with 37 off 42 balls including six fours and a six while Shaquan Belle finished 28*. Pacers Deshawn James and Kev’Aundre Virgo picked up 2-34 and 2-28, respectively.

Trinidad & Tobago Under-19s 241-9 in 50 overs (Cristian Rampersaud 43, Stevon Gomez 32, Riyaad Mohammed 29, Matthew Miller 3-52, Tanez Francis 2-50) defeated Leeward Islands Under-19s 232-9 in 50 overs (Matthew Miller 52, Kunal Tilokani 45, Eirette Richards 38, Aadian Racha 2-31, Zachary Madray 2-34, Abdul-Raheem Toppin 2-42) by nine runs at Elquemedo Willett Park

USA Under-19s 1 274 all out in 49.5 overs (Amrinder Gill 80, Utkarsh Srivastava 53, Saharsh Shwethan 44, Shaurya Gaur 2-14, Ayush Patel 2-42, Rahul Basu 2-48, Ritvik Appidi 2-50) defeated USA Under-19s 2 193 all out in 44 overs (Amogh Arepally 85, Shiv Shani 4-33, Advaith Anoop Krishna 2-12).
