For the first time ever, Jamaica will be represented in rhythmic gymnastics at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championships, marking a historic step forward for the nation’s presence in international gymnastics.
The Jamaican contingent will travel to El Salvador, where the Championships will take place from July 10–14. This elite regional event brings together top rhythmic gymnasts from across the Central American and Caribbean region, providing a platform for athletic excellence, cultural exchange, and regional Unit.
The CAC Championships, first held in 1946, are part of a longstanding multi-sport tradition aimed at promoting athletic development and collaboration among neighboring countries. In rhythmic gymnastics, the event plays a key role in preparing athletes for larger international stages by offering invaluable experience and exposure.
Jamaica are being represented by Manasa Sanumpudi and Isabella Campbell with Nileyam ‘Nila’ Molina serving as head coach.
“Being part of Jamaica’s first Rhythmic Gymnastics team at the CAC Championships is an experience I’ll never forget. It’s about more then just competing, it’s about making history and opening doors for future gymnasts,” Sanumpudi told Sportsmax.tv.
Campbell offered similar sentiments, calling it an “incredible honor.”
“This moment means the world to me and I’m proud to showcase the talent and dedication of Jamaican rhythmic gymnasts on an international stage,” she said.
The team’s participation in the CAC Championships is about more than competition—it’s about exposure, experience, and inspiring a new wave of young gymnasts across Jamaica.
By competing at this level, the athletes will gain invaluable international experience and help establish Jamaica as a rising contender in the rhythmic gymnastics community.
This historic milestone has been made possible through the dedication of the athletes, the vision of their coach, and the support of families and local partners.
Nila’s Academy continues to lead the charge in developing rhythmic gymnastics across the island, nurturing talent and building a path to future regional and global competitions.
As of now, official confirmation on the number of participating countries and teams is pending.
However, the event traditionally draws gymnasts from nations such as Mexico, Colombia, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and host country El Salvador, among others.
