As part of its 45th anniversary celebrations, GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport will host the return of FOSLympics, a spirited six-sport competition aimed at reconnecting alumni while paying tribute to the late Edwin Murray, a revered Vice Principal who served the institution for over two decades.

Set for Saturday, May 24 at the college’s campus in Spanish Town, the event will see past students representing their respective regions—aligned with Ministry of Education divisions—competing across cricket, football, track and field, netball, volleyball, and domino.

The victorious region will be awarded the Edwin Murray Trophy, a new honour established in memory of Murray’s outstanding contribution to the college as an educator, mentor and administrator.

The regional breakdown is as follows:

Region 1 (Kingston & St Andrew) – Red

Region 2 (Portland, St Thomas, St Mary) – Blue

Region 3 (St Ann, Trelawny) – Yellow

Region 4 (St James, Hanover, Westmoreland) – Purple

Region 5 (Manchester, St Elizabeth) – Brown

Region 6 (St Catherine) – Grey

Region 7 (Clarendon) – White

Action is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., and beyond the main sporting contests, attendees can look forward to additional entertainment and interactive games designed for onlookers.

Deputy Chair of the 45th Anniversary Committee, Janiel Smith, expressed optimism about the event’s reach. “We hope to attract past students from all walks of life to this event. We expect a fun-filled day for all,” she said.

The FOSLympics is one of several activities supporting GC Foster College’s ambitious drive to raise a minimum of J$45 million. These funds will be channelled into improving access for current students and drawing prospective students from across the Caribbean. Major projects include the development of a college museum, the creation of scholarships, and the acquisition of modern training equipment and supplies. A commemorative mural is also among the initiatives being pursued.

With community, competition and legacy at its core, the FOSLympics promises to be a memorable celebration of GC Foster’s enduring impact on physical education and sport in Jamaica and the region.
