Nigerian 100m hurdles world record holder Tobi Amusan was among the winners at Tuesday’s 64th edition of the Ostrava Golden Spike- A World Athletics Continental Tour-Gold meet in the Czech Republic.
Amusan, who trains at the Racers Track Club in Jamaica, ran 12.45 to take the win ahead of Slovakia’s Viktoria Forster and Ireland’s Sarah Lavin.
Forster’s 12.74 and Lavin’s 12.76 were both season’s bests.
This performance from Amusan follows up her 12.24, her fastest time since breaking the world record with 12.12 at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, at the Paris Diamond League on June 20 and shows that she is getting close to her best form once again.
Elsewhere in Ostrava, Grenadian two-time World champion and Olympic medallist Anderson Peters was third in the javelin throw.
Peters’ best throw of the day, 83.63m, came in the first round as he was outdueled by South Africa’s Douw Smit, who threw a personal best 84.12m, and India’s Neeraj Chopra who threw 85.29m.
