After more than three years, Netball Jamaica is set to host its Annual General Meeting (AGM), bringing an end to a prolonged delay that has raised concerns within the netball community. The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, July 5 at The Summit on Chelsea Avenue in Kingston.

This will be the association’s first AGM since 2021. At that time, the financial report presented was for the fiscal year ending June 2020, leaving a substantial gap in formal financial and administrative accountability.

A total of 10 directors, including the executive, will be elected at the upcoming meeting. Positions on the executive to be filled include President, First and Second Vice President, and Treasurer.

Karen Baugh, who is set to replace Tricia Robinson as president, formally declared her candidacy and outlined a clear vision for the future of the sport.

“I’m humbled to formally move forward with my candidacy for the position of President of Netball Jamaica,” Baugh said. “As President, my priority will be to drive strategic planning and growth across all levels of netball in Jamaica—so from our schools to our communities, of course, our clubs, to expand in the parishes, and also the work that we need to continue with our national team, the Sunshine Girls.”

She emphasized that the new board will prioritize continuous training and upskilling for coaches, umpires, and technical officials, as well as increasing support for grassroots development.

“Working with and elevating the Sunshine Girls to new heights in our quest for Jamaica to become number one in the world—I'm looking forward to working with fellow netball enthusiasts. This is not the job for one person; it's a job for a team,” Baugh added.

The upcoming AGM represents a critical moment for Netball Jamaica, not only to fill leadership roles but also to restore trust and transparency in its operations following the years-long delay in holding the statutory meeting. With the Sunshine Girls currently ranked third in the world and aiming for further ascension, stakeholders will be closely watching how the new administration approaches governance, development, and funding in the years ahead.
