Sri Lanka Emerging Players went 1-0 up in their three-match 50-over series against the West Indies Academy after a five-wicket in the first of three matches at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Saturday.
The Academy, after winning the toss and choosing to bat, were dismissed for 237 in 46.2 overs.
Ackeem Auguste led the charge for the Academy with 66 off 75 balls including seven fours and a six while Carlon Bowen-Tuckett and Rivaldo Clarke supported well with 55 and 51, respectively.
Off spinner Traveen Matthew and pacer Garuka Sanketh picked up 3-40 from 10 overs and 3-45 from nine overs, respectively.
The tourists then needed just 39.4 overs to reach their target thanks to excellent knocks from Ahan Wickramsinghe and Nipun Dhananjaya.
Wickramsinghe starred with a brilliant 103 off just 79 balls including 10 fours and two sixes while Dhananjaya hit 88 off 125 balls including seven fours and two sixes at the top of the order.
Nathan Edward picked up 2-44 from 7.2 overs.
The second match is scheduled for the same venue on Tuesday.
