Netball Jamaica, on Thursday, announced the much-anticipated season highlights for the Red Stripe Flavours Elite League, setting the stage for what promises to be an electrifying and fiercely competitive season.

The official League draft, held at the JOA offices on Friday, June 6, 2025, confirmed the teams that will vie for supremacy in this year’s tournament.

The participating teams and their Coaches are:

  1. Jamaica U21 Shiners – Coach Annett Daley
  2. Kingston Hummingbirds - Coach Jodi Ann Ffrench Kentish
  3. Manchester Spurs – Coach Dalton Hines
  4. St Ann Orchids – Coach Kurt Dale
  5. St Catherine Racers – Co-Coaches Kerry Ann Brown and Rasheed Josephs

All the Coaches of the Elite League are currently engaged in Netball Jamaica’s Level 3 Coaching Course, ensuring the highest standards of leadership and tactical expertise throughout the season.

The National Under-21 Team, coached by Annett Daley, will be the fifth (5th) team in the League as they use the competition to prepare for the Netball Youth World Cup, which will be held in Gibraltar in September 2025.

Manchester Spurs are the defending champions in the competition, which will bring together the sport’s top locally based athletes in a battle for supremacy.

For the first time in the competition's history, the competition draft also included two (2) overseas players, one based in England and the other in Australia.

According to Netball Jamaica Vice President Simone Forbes, “this injection of global talent will help to elevate the level of interest in the competition and provide a unique opportunity for local players to showcase their talent alongside the best.”

Jamaica is ranked number three (3) in the world, and all of our locally based Sunshine Girls will take part in the competition, and will be spread across the four Elite teams along with former nationals and other aspiring Sunshine Girls who were drafted from our Divisional Leagues,” said Forbes.

The league will be played in a Round Robin format, then move to play-offs in the closing stages. The league playing format also includes the Powerade Power Play, where the two-point super shot will be available to teams in the last three minutes of each quarter and the Marathon Brokers Tactical Timeout available to coaches to strategize and reset during the game.

The Netball Jamaica Elite League is a semi-professional league which will be played at the National Stadium complex on Fridays and Sundays from June 27, 2025, to July 27, 2025.

Red Stripe Flavours are the title sponsor, with associate sponsors Powerade and Marathon Brokers. Team Sponsors are Texaco Caribbean, Mitsubishi Motors, Xpress Sports and Nature Valley.
