Two-time defending champion Shericka Jackson was fastest through to the semi-finals of the women’s 100m on day one of the JAAA/Puma National Senior and Junior Championships at the National Stadium in Kingston on Thursday.
Jackson looked comfortable on her way to 11.20 to win the first of six heats ahead of Krystal Sloley (11.30) and Natasha Morrison (11.45). World 100m hurdles champion Danielle Williams (11.50) and Alexis James (11.69) also made it through that heat.
Olympic finalist Tia Clayton took the second heat in 11.21 ahead of Jonielle Smith (11.28) and Alana Reid (11.42). Alliah Baker (11.73) also advanced to the semis.
Five-time World champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, in her last meet at the National Stadium, won the third heat in 11.33 ahead of Carleta Bernard (11.47) and Kemba Nelson (11.48). Marissa Palmer (11.65) and Shimayra Williams (11.73) also made it through that heat as non-automatic qualifiers.
The fourth heat went to Tina Clayton in 11.27 ahead of Briana Williams (11.67) and Shanoya Douglas (11.67).
Ashanti Moore ran 11.36 to win the fifth heat ahead of Shenese Walker (11.50) and Lavanya Williams (11.61).
The sixth and final heat went to Jodean Williams in 11.31 ahead of Serena Cole (11.52) and Kasheika Cameron (11.69).
