Reggae Boyz defender Richard King is officially on the move to Scotland as his transfer to Scottish Premier League outfit St. Mirren FC was confirmed on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old former Cavalier SC skipper has signed a deal until the summer of 2027 with the club holding an option to extend for a further year.

“St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Richard King from Jamaican Premier League side Cavalier FC on a two-year deal subject to a medical and visa approval,” St. Mirren said in a statement on their website on Tuesday.

King, who has 30 caps for Jamaica, has received interest from clubs across the UK and Europe, but has chosen to join St. Mirren and becomes their third signing of 2025/26 following the permanent acquisitions of Killian Phillips and Roland Idowu from Crystal Palace and Shrewsbury Town respectively.

"Richard King is a player I tried to sign in January along with Martin [Foyle],” St. Mirren manager Stephen Robinson said in the statement.

“We had tracked him for a long time and kept up with his progress. He has progressed really well under Steve McLaren and the Jamaican national team. He's quick, he's strong and he's a project for us as well as it's a step up in level. We think Richard will add real competition to the boys we've already got and give us another option in that department," Robinson added.
