The New York Giants' already poor passing attack took a hit Monday with the team announcing that rookie wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee.
Robinson sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 31-18 home loss to the Detroit Lions during his best game as a pro.
The 2022 second-round draft pick had nine catches for 100 yards after combining for 14 receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown in his first five games.
Robinson had already missed four games after suffering an MCL injury in the season opener.
"We know how explosive [Robinson] can be," Giants running back Saquon Barkley said after Sunday's game.
"Not having him out there is definitely going to be a loss, but it's going to give other guys opportunities and we have all the confidence in all the other guys too to step in and make plays."
New York (7-3) rank 28th in the NFL with 177.3 passing yards per game. The Giants visit the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys (7-3) on Thanksgiving Day.
"We have plenty of receivers on the roster as you know," first-year New York coach Brian Daboll said. "It's a short week. We'll get the guys ready to go. We'll revisit things as we do each week and see how it goes."
Texans wide receiver Dell shot, suffers minor wound
Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was shot as an innocent bystander and sustained a minor wound outside a nightclub in Samford, Florida on Saturday night.
The team said Dell has already been released from the hospital and is “in good spirits.”
A total of 10 people were wounded in the shooting, but all the injuries are non-life threatening.
Houston selected Dell in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and the Daytona Beach, Florida native had 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games last season.
Dell did not play after Week 13 due to a fractured fibula.
Napoli 2-2 Roma: Late Abraham header denies wasteful hosts
A wasteful Napoli were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Roma in Serie A, with a late Tammy Abraham header securing a point for the visitors.
The visitors took the lead from the penalty spot a minute before the hour mark, with Paulo Dybala converting after Juan Jesus fouled Sardar Amzoun.
However, Napoli equalised six minutes later through Matias Olivera's deflected shot, and completed the turnaround with their own penalty six minutes from time as Victor Osimhen tucked away after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was felled by Renato Sanches.
The hosts could not hold on, though, and were pegged back with two minutes to go. Substitute Abraham's header from a corner was eventually awarded following a VAR review after he had initially been ruled offside.
