Azul Cayon Rockets have firmly stamped their authority on the 2025 National Bank Group of Companies Premier League, closing out Round 1 with an unbeaten record after a 1-1 draw with SOL IAS Conaree FC on Saturday at Warner Park.

The Rockets, who top the table with 23 points, quickly recovered from an early setback when Kaleb Bridgewater put Conaree ahead in the 10th minute. Five minutes later, Devontay Carty equalized for Cayon, ensuring the team maintained their spotless record through the first phase of the competition.

Earlier on Saturday, Mantab broke their winless streak with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Elco Ltd. Security Forces FC. Sylvester Alexander struck in the 17th minute, giving Mantab their first win of the season. Coach Eldean Huggins lauded his players’ disciplined effort on both ends of the pitch.

“Football is about offense and defense. We defended properly and capitalized on our chances,” Huggins said. “This is a good feeling for the team and the community...hopefully a jumpstart to kick off the winning streak for Mantab.”

The weekend's action kicked off on Friday with a thrilling 2-2 draw between MFCR Old Road United Jets and defending champions S L Horsfords St. Paul’s United. Old Road led through goals from Dequan Hamilton (9’) and captain Nequan Browne (53’), but St. Paul’s stormed back with goals from Zamir Greene (65’) and Kalonji Clarke (74’).

Reflecting on the result, Browne admitted his side faltered under pressure. “Poor game management...we made sloppy mistakes which got them back into the game,” he said. In contrast, St. Paul’s assistant coach Jamal Jeffers praised his side’s resolve: “They scored two, we scored two...at the end of the day, it's who want it the most.”

Sunday’s fixtures added further intrigue to the league standings. Development Bank St. Peters overcame adversity to beat Jones Group Sandy Point 2-1 despite a first-half red card to Tyquan Terrel. Goals from Lyndon David (26’) and Dionis Stephen (47’) secured the win after Anthony Alves had briefly drawn Sandy Point level in the 29th minute.

“We made tactical changes in the formation...asked the team to possess the ball and remain calm. This is where we test our mettle,” said St. Peters coach Austin “Dico” Huggins.

In the final match of the weekend, Rams Village Superstars flexed their attacking muscle in a 4-2 win over Tropical Blossom Hot Springs Bath United. Kimaree Rogers (7’, 80’) and G’Vaune Amory (42’, 65’) each bagged braces for Village, while Rocco Browne (45’) and Aljay Newton (54’) got on the scoresheet for Bath.
