Darwin Nunez scored Liverpool’s 1,000th goal of the Jurgen Klopp era as they beat Sparta Prague 5-1 in the Europa League.

Overall recordLiverpool have scored 1,003 goals in 476 games since Klopp’s appointment in October 2015, 691 of those in 323 Premier League matches peaking with 85 in their 2019-20 title-winning season.
Liverpool have scored a further 150 in 67 Champions League games, winning the competition in 2019, and 39 in 20 now in the Europa League.
They have 50 goals in 28 FA Cup games and 62 in 32 in the League Cup, winning the former in 2022 and the latter on two occasions including this season.
Six outings in the Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup account for the remaining 10 goals.
Top scorersNot surprisingly, Mohamed Salah leads a goalscoring podium comprised of Klopp’s most famous Anfield strikeforce.
The Egypt forward, a three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner, is the only player to score 100 league goals or 200 overall for Klopp.
With 205 in all competitions, he comfortably leads Sadio Mane (120) and Roberto Firmino (111) in the Klopp-era scoring charts. The departed pair scored 90 and 82 respectively in the league.
No other player is in three figures, with Diogo Jota next on 55 in all competitions ahead of long-time impact substitute Divock Origi (41).
Fellow attackers Philippe Coutinho, Nunez – whose double against Sparta took him to 31 – and Daniel Sturridge, midfielder James Milner and current captain Virgil van Dijk complete the top 10. Luis Diaz is one goal outside on 22 after also scoring on Thursday.
TriviaA total of 61 Liverpool players have scored goals for Klopp, from Emre Can bagging the first goal of his reign in a 2015 Europa League clash with Rubin Kazan to the recent emergence of youngsters Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns.
There have also been 31 own goals from opposing players, most memorably two in the same game by Leicester’s Wout Faes.
Their highest-scoring season was 2021-22, with 147 goals as they played in every possible fixture on their way to winning both domestic cups and finishing as Premier League and Champions League runners-up. They have topped 100 in six of Klopp’s nine seasons, having already done so this term with 110.
Filing players by their most typical positions under Klopp – for example, converted winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the uber-versatile Milner are listed in midfield while Trent Alexander-Arnold remains a defender – sees forwards accounting for 703 of the goals. That grouping includes wide players and ‘number 10s’ such as Salah and Coutinho.
Another 177 goals have come from midfield, 85 from defenders and one memorable header by a goalkeeper, Alisson Becker’s injury-time winner against West Brom in 2021.
Recruitment crucial if Slot gets Liverpool job, warns Brands
Arne Slot must only settle for the best in the transfer market if he succeeds Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager at the end of the season.
That is the view of PSV president Marcel Brands, who has warned Slot against taking several Eredivisie players with him in comments which might be interpreted as a dig at Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.
Liverpool are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Feyenoord to appoint Slot, who led the Rotterdam giants to just their second league title this century in 2022-23.
Should Slot get the job, he will be taking over at what could be a time of great upheaval at Anfield.
Star forward Mohamed Salah could follow Klopp through the exit door as he enters the final 12 months of his contract, with renewed interest from the Saudi Pro League likely.
The Egyptian was involved in a public spat with Klopp during Saturday's 2-2 draw with West Ham and has only scored three Premier League goals since going to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Asked how Slot should approach taking over during a time of transition, Brands told Goedemorgen Eredivisie: "Don't focus blindly on signing five Dutch players.
"He has to look very carefully at what he needs with his style of football, and only settle for top players."
Brands' comments come as Slot's fellow Dutchman Ten Hag continues to attract fierce criticism amid an underwhelming second campaign at Old Trafford, with Eredivisie recruits Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez having limited impacts this term.
Brands has warned Slot the pressure awaiting him at Anfield will match that Ten Hag has faced at United, saying: "Slot will be working at one of the biggest clubs in England.
"You have to realise that. Liverpool have supporters from all over the world, and the pressure is always there.
"Just like Manchester United, they really are the biggest clubs in England, but it is a fantastic challenge."
Al-Khaleej 0-1 Al-Nassr: Ronaldo misfires on return as Laporte nets winner
Cristiano Ronaldo returned from suspension but failed to find the net as Al-Nassr secured a 1-0 win over Al-Khaleej on Saturday, with Aymeric Laporte coming up with the decisive goal.
Ronaldo was in action for the first time since being sent off for an elbow in a 2-1 Saudi Super Cup loss to Al-Hilal earlier this month, with his initial two-match ban being reduced to one on appeal.
He missed three good chances as Al-Nassr threatened to fall further behind runaway Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal, but former Manchester City defender Laporte spared his blushes by nodding Marcelo Brozovic's deep free-kick into the bottom-left corner with 68 minutes gone.
Al-Nassr remain nine points adrift of Al-Hilal at the summit in spite of their win, with Jorge Jesus' team unbeaten through 28 games this season as they close in on a record-extending 18th title.

Ronaldo was presented with the Saudi Pro League's Player of the Month award for March ahead of kick-off, having scored four goals in three league appearances last month.
However, his sights were off on Saturday as he failed to net despite three of the visitors' four big chances, as defined by Opta, falling his way. He led all players on the pitch for expected goals (1.27 xG), shots (five), shots on target (three) and touches in the area (nine) without reward.
Huddersfield all but relegated from Championship while League Two play-off spots decided
Huddersfield Town saw their relegation from the Championship all but confirmed after a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Birmingham City on Saturday.
The Terriers avoided a defeat that would have seen them relegated on Saturday, but even a win on the final day over promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town will not be enough unless they overcome a huge goal difference of 15 goals with Plymouth Argyle.
Birmingham remain in the other relegation place and now must beat Norwich City to stand a chance of staying up with Sheffield Wednesday, Plymouth and Blackburn Rovers also still in danger.
At the other end of the table, the Canaries dropped points in a 2-2 draw with Swansea City, leaving the door open for Hull City, who face Ipswich Town later today.
