The West Indies suffered a humiliating 176-run defeat at the hands of Australia on day three of the third Test at Sabina Park on Monday, completing a 3-0 whitewash for the tourists.
Chasing 204 for victory, the West Indians were bowled out for an inexplicable 27, the second lowest score in Test history, thanks to a spectacular spell of quick bowling from Mitchell Starc in his 100th Test match.
Starc took the wickets of John Campbell, Kevlon Anderson and Brandon King all in the first over for ducks to set up the demolition.
Things got from bad to worse for the hosts when Starc removed Mikyle Louis for four in the fifth over to make it 5-4, bringing up his 400th Test wicket in the process.
He completed his five-wicket haul in just 15 balls, the fastest in Test history, with the wicket of Shai Hope for two in the same over before Roston Chase, not long after, fell caught behind off the bowling of Josh Hazlewood for a duck to make it 11-6 two balls into the sixth over.
It was then over to Scott Boland who picked up a hat-trick with the wickets of Justin Greaves (11), Shamar Joseph (0) and Jomel Warrican (0) in the 14th over to leave the score at 26-9, putting the West Indies in danger of tying the record for the lowest score in test history set by New Zealand back in 1955.
After a misfield that allowed the West Indies to sneak another run and avoid history, Starc brought an end to proceedings with his sixth wicket, bowling Jayden Seales halfway through the 15th over to dismiss the hosts for 27.
Starc finished with figures of 6-9 off 7.3 overs while Boland picked up 3-2 in three overs.
Earlier, the hosts dismissed Australia for 121 after they began the day 99-6.
Alzarri Joseph finished with 5-27 from 12 overs, his second five-wicket haul in Tests, while Shamar Joseph finished with 4-34 from 13 overs.
Both teams will now turn their attention to the five-match T20I series beginning on Sunday.
