Saint Lucian Olympic champion Julien Alfred says her spectacular 2024 season has only made her hungrier for success moving forward.

The 24-year-old Alfred claimed World Indoor 60m gold in Glasgow, Olympic 100m gold and 200m silver in Paris as well as won the 100m title at the Diamond League final.

This season, Alfred has established new national records in both the short track 300m and 400m.

Outdoors, she has competed in a pair of 200m, running 21.88 at the Tom Jones Memorial on April 18 and 22.15 at the Boris Hanzekovic Memorial on May 24.

Most recently, Alfred opened her 100m season with 10.89 to win at the Oslo Diamond League on Thursday.

“Winning the Olympics has given me more confidence going into races,” Alfred said ahead of her appearance at the Stockholm Diamond League on Sunday.

“I haven’t gotten comfortable. I know that for sure. I still train every single day because I know that there’s somebody coming and everybody wants to win towards the end of the year so I just train hard nonetheless,” she added.

Alfred will be competing in her second 100m of the season in Stockholm.

She also spoke about changes she’s made to her approach this season, mainly consisting of doing more endurance work through longer races.

“I’m running longer. I’m running 400s, 300s which I don’t normally do. I may do one 4x400 throughout the year, however, running longer now, I think that’s what has changed,” she said.

The field in Stockholm is made up by Zaynab Dosso, Patrizia van der Weken, Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith, Dina Asher-Smith, Daryll Neita, Julia Henriksson and Maia McCoy.
