South Africa coach Jacques Nienaber believes the rugby union world disrespects his side amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Rassie Erasmus' actions.
The Springboks' director of rugby has been handed a fresh suspension following his latest criticism of match officials, having only recently returned in October following a year-long ban for the same issue.
Erasmus, who guided South Africa to victory over England at the 2019 Rugby World Cup before he vacated the role to Nienaber, will miss this weekend's rematch at Twickenham with Eddie Jones' side.
But his successor believes his team are being made a scapegoat, and that they are more than the sum of their parts as suggested by their broadsides at referees.
"If all the facts are out there, I think people would form a different opinion," Nienaber stated. "It is quite sad if you think about it.
"We can't control the narrative that gets put out there that we are boring, and we don't attack, that we just kick and tackle.
"All the energy you put in, you are not going to change that narrative, that is the narrative people want to drive.
"If we will get respect ever, I don't know, but as long as we are comfortable with what we are putting out here and are trying to achieve, and we are open and honest with each other as a group."
Southgate: England not pinning Euro 2024 hopes on Bellingham
England will not be overly reliant on Jude Bellingham at Euro 2024, so says Gareth Southgate.
Bellingham has shined for Real Madrid this season, helping Los Blancos win LaLiga and the Champions League, scoring 23 goals in the process.
He has also become an increasingly important figure for the Three Lions, who are among the favourites at Euro 2024.
Bellingham was given a break in the wake of the Champions League final, and so sat out England's friendlies against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland, with the Three Lions failing to impress in a 1-0 loss in the latter match.
When the topic of Bellingham was raised following that defeat at Wembley, Southgate said: "We are not putting everything on Jude.
"We've got a lot of good players and it is a collective thing to go and try to win this tournament.
"If we are relying on one person that isn’t going to be a team that wins.
"I'm sure he will give the squad a lift but it is not his responsibility to do that. It is for all of us to get the focus right, to make sure individually our mentality is right."
England face Serbia in their opening match of Euro 2024 on June 16, before they take on Denmark and Slovenia.
Nevin backs England and France for Euro 2024 glory
England and France must be considered as the favourites to win Euro 2024, so says Pat Nevin.
Both Les Bleus and the Three Lions topped their respective groups, scoring 51 goals between them and going unbeaten in the process.
Gareth Southgate's side kick-off their tournament campaign at the Arena AufSchalke against Serbia on June 16, while Kylian Mbappe will lead the French out for the first time at a major tournament against Austria the following evening.
The two sides last faced off at the Qatar World Cup in 2022, with Didier Deschamps masterminding a quarter-final triumph to extend their winning record at major tournaments over England to three matches.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Nevin, who represented Scotland for a decade between 1986 and 1996, believes that both teams are favourites to lift the trophy on July 14, but pinpointed one major factor that could decide either sides' fate.
"I think there are two favourites. I think they're joint, just about, but it's England and it is France," Nevin told Stats Perform.
"The French are pretty spectacular. Their second XI would go far in this tournament, they're that good. They've got that much quality, and they've been there and done that before.
"England, middle to front, are off the scale. And all the types of players that England could never develop before, the creatives. They're there, they've finally arrived.
"Foden and Cole Palmer are there, and you've got [Jude] Bellingham as well. Harry Kane is probably the most complete centre-forward in world football. I always say to people, see if you put Kane for the last 10 years at Manchester City as centre-forward, he'd probably outscore [Erling] Haaland.
"So, with that up front, if I could only say one thing, I think to win championships, you've got to be brave. That is what you need to be. When you watch the Man City's, etc of the world, it's about attacking, it's about positive play. If England does that, I'll put them as favourites. I don't think they will, so it's France."
Shaw regrets playing through injury for Man Utd with Euro 2024 participation uncertain
Luke Shaw regrets playing through the pain barrier for Manchester United, as the England left-back hopes to feature at Euro 2024.
Shaw has been selected for Gareth Southgate's squad heading to Germany despite not having featured for club or country since February.
The 28-year-old went off injured while playing for Man United against Luton Town, a fixture that he has admitted was a mistake to play in.
"If the manager asks me to play, I'm never going to say 'no.' But I shouldn't have played," Shaw said.
"It's kind of everyone's fault. Partly my fault, partly the medical staff.
"I came back too quickly and I actually ended up getting another injury in my hamstring. I did push to do everything I can to be fit for United."
Shaw's inclusion has raised eyebrows, especially with his United club-mate Harry Maguire, who has not played since April due to injury, missing the cut.
When asked if he is likely to play in England's opener against Serbia on June 16, Shaw said: "That's not really down to me. We just go day by day, see how I'm feeling in training.
"I would love to make the first game, but I don't want to rush too quickly because realistically I've only got one chance. If I feel something, then that's it. I don't want that to happen."
England also face Denmark and Slovenia in their group at Euro 2024.
