JDF and UWI Women Reign Supreme as JAVA Club League Concludes in Style

The 2025 Jamaica Volleyball Association (JAVA) Club League came to a thrilling end over the weekend, with championship glory and bragging rights decided in an action-packed finale at the GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport.

In the women’s division, the University of the West Indies (UWI) Women reaffirmed their dominance on the court, brushing aside the Mico Old Students Association (MOSA) in straight sets to retain their title. The reigning champions delivered a clinical performance, winning 25-15, 25-10, 25-17, and left no doubt about their status as the top women’s team in the country.

The men’s final, meanwhile, delivered all the drama volleyball fans could hope for. In a highly anticipated rematch of last year’s title clash, the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and UWI Men went toe-to-toe in a five-set thriller that mirrored the intensity of their previous encounter. After trading sets in a back-and-forth battle—25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 19-25—JDF dug deep in the decisive fifth set, holding their nerve to clinch the championship 15-9 and secure back-to-back JAVA Club League titles.

Both finals showcased the best of Jamaican volleyball, highlighting the depth of talent and the fierce rivalries that continue to elevate the sport across the island. The 2025 JAVA Club League finale not only delivered memorable matches but also underscored the growing popularity and competitive spirit of volleyball in Jamaica.
