Jamaican-born professional basketball player Kentan Facey delivered a memorable and impactful session at G.C. Foster College, engaging over 100 youth participants of the 2025 KFC Star Search Basketball & Life Skills Camp which wrapped up on Friday.

Facey, who currently plays with Caen Basket Calvados in France’s Pro B League and is a former NCAA Champion with the University of Connecticut, returned to his home country to give back to the very programme that helped launch his own career.

His session, held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., featured technical drills, motivational speaking, and one-on-one engagement with campers.

A product of the Star Search initiative himself, Facey shared his personal journey from rural Trelawny to the international basketball stage, underscoring the transformative power of discipline, education, and consistent effort.

“This programme was instrumental in shaping the path I’m on today,” Facey remarked during his address to the participants.

“It’s a privilege to return and help equip the next generation with the tools to succeed both on and off the court.”

Now in its 2025 staging, the KFC Star Search Camp continues to serve as a strategic youth development initiative, blending advanced basketball training with critical life skills.

The camp is designed to identify emerging talent and prepare participants for scholarship opportunities, while also instilling values of leadership, resilience, and academic focus.

The Jamaica Basketball Association is grateful that the annual camp is made possible through the support of KFC Jamaica, the Bob & Rita Marley Foundation, and the Sports Development Foundation (SDF).

It is also supported by Jamaica’s Basketball Ambassador Cedella Marley and Saiyan Marley, both of whom continue to advocate for the role of sports in national youth empowerment.

"The Bob and Rita Marley Foundations are happy and honoured to have Kentan Facey as a participant in this year's programme. We know that his presence, personal experiences and journey to the global stage, will be an inspiration to this year's Campers," the Foundations' Manager, Alicia Williams commented.

Facey’s visit marks a significant highlight of the 2025 programme and reinforces the long-term impact of the KFC Star Search platform in shaping future leaders through sport.
