Reported Real Madrid target Houssem Aouar has the talent to one day play at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Zinedine Zidane has little interest speculating about the final days of the transfer window.

Lyon midfielder Aouar, who starred in their run to last season's Champions League semi-finals, has been linked with both Madrid and Arsenal.

The window closes on Monday, though, and Zidane - while acknowledging Aouar's talent - is looking forward to having the distraction of out the way.

"I don't know what information you have," Zidane responded at a news conference ahead of Madrid's trip to Levante. "I have no doubt about this player, he is a great player.

"Maybe one day he could play for Madrid, but today we have this squad and my concern is the players I have now. As of October 5, there will be no such questions."

Madrid are yet to make a single signing in this window, yet the focus in recent days has been on a man they let go.

Achraf Hakimi was allowed to join Inter after an impressive loan with Borussia Dortmund and rival right-backs Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Odriozola have both gone down injured in the past two days.

Carvajal has damaged the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and could reportedly face two months out, while back-up Odriozola then sustained a calf issue.

Zidane is now without a recognised option on that side of the defence but would not reflect differently on Hakimi's departure.

"These are things that can happen in a squad," he explained. "We have to count on other players. We can't look for excuses."

The pair join winger Eden Hazard on the injury list, Madrid's number seven suffering a muscle injury late last month as he sought to return to fitness after a tough first season in Spain.

Zidane is not concerned Hazard's repeated problems will mean he does not come back the same player, though.

"I am positive about everything, including Hazard," the coach said. "Plus this was a muscle injury from having worked hard to return.

"I don't like [injures], because I like having everyone available, but they are things that can happen. It just bothers me that players can't play."

Could Ousmane Dembele be the solution for Manchester United?

Jadon Sancho has been United's number one target, but the Premier League giants have been unable to prise the Englishman from Borussia Dortmund.

Barca's Dembele is reportedly next on the list and believed to be open to swapping Spain for England.

TOP STORY – DEMBELE WEIGHING UP MAN UTD MOVE

Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele is considering a transfer to Manchester United, according to Sport.

Dembele – struggling for game time at Camp Nou – has emerged as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho for United, who are trying to sign an attacker before the transfer window closes.

Initially linked with a loan move, ESPN claims United are prepared to pay €50million (£45m) for Dembele as Paul Pogba attempts to convince the Frenchman to make the move.

ROUND-UP

- Goal says Bayern Munich are trying to convince Chelsea to sanction Callum Hudson-Odoi's exit, initially on loan. Bayern previously tried to sign Hudson-Odoi and the Bundesliga champions have returned again, prepared to include an obligation to buy the 19-year-old winger in 2021.

- L'Equipe claims Real Madrid have entered the race for Lyon star Houssem Aouar. The Frenchman has been heavily linked to Arsenal, as well as Paris Saint-Germain.

Lucas Torreira will undergo a medical on Saturday ahead of joining Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal, says Onda Cero.

Diogo Dalot will join Milan from United on loan, reports Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio. Out of favour in Manchester, the Portuguese full-back had also been linked to Roma.

- According to the front pages of Saturday's Tuttosport, Corriere dello Sport and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Federico Chiesa is nearing a Fiorentina exit as he eyes Serie A champions Juventus. The Italian has also been linked to the likes of United, Inter and Chelsea.

Napoli have submitted an offer to sign Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan, reports Fabrizio Romano. Hertha Berlin, PSG and Milan are also reportedly eyeing the Frenchman.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo said Thomas Tuchel must accept decisions made above him if he stays at the Ligue 1 champions, though he acknowledged signing Houssem Aouar would be a "dream".

Alessandro Florenzi has been the only new arrival at PSG ahead of the 2020-21 season, despite the departures of important figures Edinson Cavani, Thiago Silva and Thomas Meunier in Paris.

In a news conference on Thursday, head coach Tuchel – who led PSG to their first Champions League final last term – called for reinforcements by saying: "If we keep the squad we have today, honestly, we can't ask for the same results."

Leonardo criticised the German boss for his public remarks following PSG's 6-1 thrashing of Angers at the Parc des Princes on Friday.

"I did not appreciate Tuchel's comments. I did not understand them and I did not like them. The club did not like them either," said Leonardo.

"We will see internally. If someone is not happy, we talk, there is no problem. But if he decides to stay, he must decide to respect the choices of the sports management.

"We're not here to go to trial. We have to have the spirit of suffering for the club, the spirit of sacrifice. The important thing is the club. We didn't like it [the way Tuchel spoke]."

PSG have been linked with a move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, who is also a target for Premier League side Arsenal.

Asked if he expected any additions before the transfer window closes on Monday, Leonardo said: "We will try to do things. We will see, but there is nothing for sure.

"Aouar, that makes you dream. But now may not be the time. It's a bit complicated at the moment."

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly pushing to land Dele Alli, while they may also challenge Arsenal for Houssem Aouar.

Struggling for game time at Tottenham, Alli was on the scoresheet in Thursday's Europa League thrashing of Maccabi Haifa.

But the midfielder may yet depart the Premier League club.

TOP STORY – PSG PUSH FOR ALLI

Paris Saint-Germain have made a push to sign Alli on loan before the transfer deadline on Monday, according to The Telegraph.

Alli has only made three appearances this season, including just 46 minutes in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old England international has been at Spurs since 2015.

ROUND-UP

- Uncertainty remains over Aouar's future at Lyon. Fabrizio Romano reports Arsenal are still in talks but are yet to reach an agreement with Lyon, while L'Equipe says PSG are also interested.

- Could Antonio Conte and Marcos Alonso reunite at Inter? CalcioMercato claims Inter are interested in signing the Chelsea left-back, who worked with Conte at Stamford Bridge.

- Roma are yet to find a deal to sign Chris Smalling. Fabrizio Romano reports the Serie A club will make a new bid for the Manchester United defender, who impressed on loan at Roma in 2019-20.

- Tiemoue Bakayoko could be set for a move from Chelsea. Gianluca Di Marzio says Napoli are eyeing the midfielder, who has been on loan at Milan and Monaco in the past two seasons.

- As their tough window continues, Manchester United could be getting closer to a signing. Sport 890 reports the Premier League club are set to make a move for Penarol's 18-year-old attacker Facundo Pellistri.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claims three major clubs are interested in signing star midfielder Houssem Aouar.

Arsenal have emerged as favourites to prise Aouar from Lyon, though the Premier League club are yet to agree a fee as the Ligue 1 side hold out for £55million (€60m).

French outlet Telefoot reported on Friday that Aouar has agreed personal terms with Arsenal, who are reportedly willing to pay £36m (€40m) for the 22-year-old.

Aouar, however, has also been linked to the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain following Lyon's memorable run to the 2019-20 Champions League semi-final.

"Things haven't really advanced. We know that three major clubs – two in the short term and one in the medium term – are interested in Houssem," Aulas told reporters on Wednesday when asked about Aouar following the arrival of Lucas Paqueta from Milan.

"They are some of the biggest clubs. They have all been in the Champions League and have performed well. Talks are difficult. The clubs are not able to provide us with financial commitments.

"Some, like I have said with Barcelona, are in great difficulty. That is the difficulty. We are all working, night and day."

Lyon have struggled for form since kicking off their 2020-21 season, managing just one win from five games in Ligue 1.

Rudi Garcia's Lyon are 11th in the table, seven points behind unbeaten leaders Rennes.

Lyon have confirmed the arrival of Lucas Paqueta from Milan in a reported €20million transfer.

The Brazil attacker joined the Rossoneri for €35m from Flamengo in January 2019 and initially impressed, scoring once in 13 appearances in his first half-season in Serie A.

But Paqueta failed to find the net at all last season and started just 12 times in the league.

Milan have now cut their losses and allowed the 23-year-old to join last season's Champions League semi-finalists Lyon on a five-year deal.

Having been an unused substitute in Milan's first two games of the new season, Paqueta was presented in France on Wednesday.

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly maintaining a firm stance over Jadon Sancho, while Barcelona still want Memphis Depay.

The Sancho transfer saga continues to dominate talk as Manchester United chase the Dortmund star.

But the Bundesliga club are seemingly unmoved.

TOP STORY – DORTMUND ADAMANT SANCHO WILL STAY

Dortmund are adamant Sancho will not be sold this transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

United have continued to be linked with the England international, who scored 17 goals and provided 16 assists in 32 Bundesliga games last season.

However, Dortmund's asking price of £108million (€120m) has reportedly proven to be a stumbling block.

ROUND-UP

- Late in the transfer window, there may still be movement at Barcelona. Sport reports Ronald Koeman still wants Lyon star Depay. It also says Ajax full-back Sergino Dest is close to signing, while Porto are trying to loan midfielder Riqui Puig. Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo says Barca will make a new offer for Eric Garcia after Manchester City signed Benfica defender Ruben Dias.

- Amid uncertainty over Luka Jovic's future at Real Madrid, AS reports LaLiga's champions want the forward to make a loan move. Jovic struggled in his first season at Madrid in 2019-20.

- Antonio Rudiger could be among the exits at Chelsea. Sky Sports reports Tottenham are interested in signing the defender.

- Talk about Rhian Brewster's Liverpool future continues. The Sun says Sheffield United are offering £17m for the forward and are prepared to agree to a buy-back clause of around £40m. The Blades have failed to score in their first three Premier League games and are second bottom.

- Lyon are reportedly chasing Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta. L'Equipe claims the Ligue 1 club offered to take the 23-year-old on a one-year loan with an €18m purchase option, a deal which was rejected. However, it reports Lyon will return with an improved offer.

Mikel Arteta expects a busy finish to the transfer window, but the Arsenal manager had no update regarding Houssem Aouar.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Lyon star Aouar ahead of the transfer window closing on October 5.

Asked about Aouar after a 3-1 Premier League loss to Liverpool on Monday, Arteta had no update, but he predicted a frantic finish to the transfer period.

"We don't have any news on new players and either with players that might leave the football club," he told a news conference.

"It's a week to go, I think it's going to be really busy for other clubs because not much business has been done.

"Let's see what happens."

Arteta added: "I think it will be busy for the Premier League. Busy for us, I don't know how it is going to happen."

Arsenal's loss to Liverpool was their first of the Premier League season and they sit fifth in the table.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has set a Friday deadline for any departures from the Ligue 1 club amid talk about Memphis Depay and Houssem Aouar.

Depay has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, while Aouar is reportedly a target for Arsenal.

But while the transfer window closes on October 5, Aulas wants any departures from Lyon to be confirmed by Friday.

"I believe that we will tell the players that for everything that will not be settled in terms of departure before Friday, there will be no departure," he told Telefoot on Monday.

"For us, the date of the transfer window will be Friday. I think to propose it tomorrow [Tuesday] to Rudi [Garcia, coach] and Juni [Juninho, sporting director].

"We realise that there is something wrong. It can be that and many other things. Friday, players who have not left will not leave."

Lyon have made a slow start to the Ligue 1 season, collecting just six points from their opening five games.

Ruben Dias is on the verge of leaving Benfica.

The Portugal international is wanted by Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Could he help City dethrone Premier League champions Liverpool?

TOP STORY – DIAS SET FOR CITY

Benfica defender Ruben Dias will join Manchester City, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

- Lyon want €50million (£46m) for in-demand star Houssem Aouar amid interest from Arsenal, claims RMC Sport. Paris Saint-Germain, City and Chelsea have also been linked.

Arsenal are not close to matching Houssem Aouar's valuation, according to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.

French outlet Telefoot reported on Friday that Aouar has agreed personal terms with Arsenal and the clubs were set for discussions about a transfer fee.

The Gunners are reportedly willing to pay €40million for the midfielder, though Lyon are understood to be hoping for a deal in the region of €60m.

Aulas confirmed there is a significant disparity between what Arsenal are offering and what Lyon want.

"There will be very few departures. For Houssem, Arsenal are way too far from his value," Aulas posted on Twitter alongside a link to L'Equipe's story on the Telefoot report.

"We are counting on him to play a great match against Lorient and lead OL in the Champions League next year."

Lyon were victorious in their opening match of the 2020-21 Ligue 1 season, beating Dijon 4-1 on August 28, but travel to Lorient on Sunday on the back of a three-game winless run.

The club finished seventh in the league last season and lost the Coupe de la Ligue final to Paris Saint-Germain, consequently failing to secure European qualification.

Memphis Depay remains Barcelona's preferred transfer option, while Manchester United want Jadon Sancho and Alex Telles in this window.

LaLiga giants Barca have been linked with numerous attackers as they rebuild under Ronald Koeman.

Depay has seemingly been the favourite to join, and it appears nothing has changed.

TOP STORY – DEPAY THE FAVOURITE TO JOIN BARCELONA

Depay is in pole position to join Barcelona from Lyon, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The report says Depay, 26, fits the profile and salary expectations at Barca.

Depay and Koeman worked together while the latter was in charge of the Netherlands between 2018 and 2020.

ROUND-UP

Meanwhile, ESPN says Sevilla are expecting an improved bid from City for Jules Kounde after an initial £50.2million (€55m) offer was rejected.

- Chelsea may not be done spending just yet. The Mirror reports they want to make another move for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice , and it could lead to Jorginho joining Arsenal .

- Sergino Dest is expected to join Barcelona and Guillem Balague claims the Ajax right-back should officially join them next week. Barcelona sold Nelson Semedo to Wolves this week.

- Could there be late movement in the transfer window for Tottenham ? The Sun reports Spurs are in talks to sign Inter defender Milan Skriniar and are prepared to pay between £25m (€27.4m) and £30m (€32.9m), which is well below Inter's valuation.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas named Arsenal while discussing the future of in-demand star midfielder Houssem Aouar.

Aouar has been linked with Premier League outfit Arsenal, as well as Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea following Lyon's memorable run to the 2019-20 Champions League semi-final.

Lyon value Aouar at €60million (£55m) and are refusing to lower their demands as Mikel Arteta's Arsenal struggle to raise the necessary funds.

Asked if Aouar could remain at the Ligue 1 club, Aulas told Le Progres: "Financially, Arsenal are like everyone else [in a tricky spot amid the coronavirus pandemic].

"And Houssem could say to himself that the best thing would be to stay with us."

Lyon captain Memphis Depay has also been linked with Barcelona and Milan, while Moussa Dembele continues to attract interest from across Europe.

"From the start I said that we would not lose the three players announced every day in the newspapers," Aulas said.

"Ten days before the end of the transfer window, none of the three have gone. And I don't imagine that will happen. If one or two leave, they will be replaced."

Lyon have endured a difficult start to the 2020-21 season, winning just one of their opening four matches to sit 12th in the standings.

But amid doubts emerging over head coach Rudi Garcia's future, Aulas insisted: "Rudi is with us. He has been cited as one of the best 10 managers in Europe. News gets invented, it is sad.

"We are not going to respond to such nuisances. Rudi Garcia is and will be our manager, that is clear. And we are going to have a great team."

Bayern Munich or Barcelona?

Two of the world's biggest clubs are going head-to-head for Ajax sensation Sergino Dest.

And the club from LaLiga are reportedly favourites to land the teenager.

TOP STORY – DEST WANTS BARCA

Ajax full-back Sergino Dest has pushed aside an offer from Bundesliga and Champions League holders Bayern Munich as he looks to join Barcelona, according to Sport.

But Dest has his heart set on Barca, where a principle agreement is reportedly in place between the player and Ajax.

- Kicker says Barca and Roma have joined Paris Saint-Germain in looking at Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, who looks set to leave London.

Manchester City are still pursuing Atletico Madrid's Jose Gimenez, says the Daily Star. An alternative to Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly, City's interest in Gimenez could be scuppered as the Uruguay international isolates and recovers from coronavirus.

- Despite already signing Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi, Le10 Sport claims David Beckham's Inter Miami remain keen on free agent Edinson Cavani. However, the former PSG forward is still hoping to remain in Europe.

First Juventus, now Atletico Madrid.

For so long, Luis Suarez appeared set to leave Spain for Italy.

But a proposed move to Juve did not materialise as the Barcelona forward stands on the cusp of uniting with Diego Simeone in the Spanish capital.

TOP STORY – SUAREZ TO JOIN ATLETICO

Luis Suarez will swap Barcelona for LaLiga rivals Atletico Madrid, according to widespread reports in Spain.

Suarez had been tipped to join Serie A champions Juventus after being told he could leave Camp Nou.

But the 33-year-old Uruguay international forward will now sign a two-year deal with Atletico as he dominates the front pages of Wednesday's Marca, Diario AS and Mundo Deportivo.
