Jamaica’s Shawn Rhoden, the 2018 Mr Olympia bodybuilding champion, has been charged with rape and sexual assault, according to multiple reports emerging from the United States.

The 44-year-old Rhoden was charged Thursday with rape and object rape as well as forcible sexual abuse. Police in Utah have issued an arrest warrant, The Deseret News in Utah reported.

The alleged victim is a female bodybuilder, who had visited him in his hotel room in Sandy. According to the reports, the woman visited Rhoden on October 12, 2018, while he was on a visit to Utah.

The incident is alleged to have occurred just under a month after he became the oldest man ever to win the Mr Olympia crown.

The victim alleged that Rhoden forced himself on her despite she telling him repeatedly to stop and she only managed to escape when she told him she needed to go downstairs or “else an acquaintance waiting in the lobby would know "something (was) up", reports said.

Those reports also said a DNA sample taken from the women was matched to Rhoden.

Rhoden got into bodybuilding in 1993 and won his IFBB Pro card by 2010.

After finishing 11th at the 2011 Mr Olympia, he was third in 2012 and fourth in 2013.

He took third place in 2014 and 2015 and finally broke into the top two in 2016. In 2018 at the age of 43 years and five months, he finally claimed the coveted title.
