Matthew 'Gold Lion' Colquhoun faces Spike Carlyle in pivotal match

By August 30, 2019

Jamaica’s Mixed Martial Artist Matthew Colqhoun has declared that he is ready for Friday night’s fight against Spike Carlyle at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium in Riverside, California.

Colquhoun, who in July became a three-time Pan Am Sambo and Combat Sambo champion in the Dominican Republic, is also coming off back-to-back wins, the last of which was a fight he took at short notice against Kerry Lattimer on August 10 at the Cow Palace in Daly City.

On that back of that success, he signed a contract with Legacy Fighting Alliance an American mixed martial arts promotion that is broadcast on AXS TV. Tonight’s fight against Carlyle presents an opportunity to negotiate for a more lucrative deal.

“This is one of the biggest stages that I am going to be on. Doing well in this fight will propel me to either a bigger contract or a title shot,” he said, emphasising that he is only focussed on what is front of him.

“I am just taking it one fight at a time. As the fights come, I prepare for that mentally. I leave my management to what comes next because my job is to focus on being physically, mentally and emotionally fight and put on a good show.”
