Arnett win but eliminated from CONCACAF League

By August 10, 2018

Arabe United is through to the quarterfinals of the 2018 Scotiabank CONCACAF League with a 4-2 win on aggregate over Arnett Gardens of Jamaica in the Round of 16.

The Panamanian side lost 2-1 in Thursday night’s second leg at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, but by virtue of its 3-0 first leg win, the Canalero club has advanced to face CD FAS of El Salvador in the next round.

Marvin Morgan gave the home side hope early on with a strong right-footed strike in the fifth minute to cut the aggregate deficit down to 3-1.

But Arabe Unido responded with aplomb in the 28th minute, as Leslie Heraldez curled in a stunning right-footed shot from outside the area to pull the Panamanians level 1-1 in the match while extending their aggregate lead to 4-1.

Arnett Gardens refused to throw in the towel and the Jamaicans chipped away at the Arabe Unido aggregate lead, 4-2, when Lamard Neil scored in the 64th minute to round out the scoreline.
