Raheem Sterling explained why he moved from Liverpool to Man City after he picked up the Football Writers' Association Football of the Year award.

Cardiff City have been making statements suggesting they will be trying to get out of their agreement to play Ligue 1 outfit Nantes, 15 million for Emiliano Sala, who died tragically in a plane accident on his way to his new club.
Do Cardiff have a point, or are they displaying bad form?

Nantes has asked that Cardiff City pay the record transfer fee for would-be forward Emilio Sala, whose plane went missing on the way to his new club. Sala is presumed dead and the wreckage of the plane he travelled in was found with a body inside. Are they being insensitive given the sadness of the event?

Former English Premier League (EPL) goalkeeper and television pundit Shaka Hislop has been appointed as an ambassador for the Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL).

The 49-year-old Hislop, who spent 10 years in the EPL’s top flight where he represented Newcastle and then West Ham is expected to play the role of mentor for burgeoning T&T schoolboy football talent.

According to Hislop, who attended St Mary’s College as a young player, claimed the decision to take up the position was a no-brainer.

“It was a pretty easy decision on my part.  I’m a product of the Secondary School’s Football League (SSFL).  I’ve always been a huge admirer of what it brings and what it offers to young men and women in the Trinidad and Tobago school system.

“I know how big a role it played in my own football development.  So I’m more than happy to lend a hand in hopes that it can do the same for some of the other,” he added.

In his role as ambassador Hislop is expected to conduct clinics with coaches as well as visiting schools to give inspirational addresses.  At the end of the season, he will be selecting an All-Star team.  Hislop made some 26 appearances for the Trinidad and Tobago national team.

Jamaica international Wes Morgan could part ways with long-time club Leicester City as the player is yet to secure a contract renewal with less than a year remaining on his current deal.

The English Premier League club’s manager Claude Puel recently confirmed that the 34-year-old was among a number of players who could become free agents in 2019 and are currently in talks with the club's director of football, Jon Rudkin.

The burly defender, who formed a steady partnership at the back with German international Robert Huth, was a crucial part of the team’s miraculous run to the title in 2016 but has fallen down the pecking order in recent seasons.

"There are some discussions with Jon [Rudkin] about all the players in our squad,” Puel told Leicestershire Live.

"I don’t want to give it away for them or for other players. I can say about them, about the squad, I’m happy to have all these players with us. We have to manage them and try to give them the game-time to continue with a positive attitude.”

Other high profile senior players heading into the final year of their contracts are Christian Fuchs, Danny Simpson and Yohan Benalouane.

The English Premier League (EPL) will head into its second week.  We take a look at some of the upcoming games.
