Trinidad and Tobago Red Force captain Denesh Ramdin believes the return of the former Windies senior players to the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force bolsters his side’s chances of winning the Regional Super50 competition that bowls off next week.

The Red Force finished third in their group last term and failed to advance to the semi-finals of the competition.  However, with the return of Kieron Pollard, Lendl Simmons, Ravi Rampaul and Sunil Narine to a team that already has Dwayne Bravo, Darren Bravo and Nicholas Pooran, the captain is feeling good about this team.

“It’s good to have those guys back in the fray. Their experience, the amount of games they have played all over the world and playing at home in our conditions it’s going to be very helpful,” Ramdin SportsMax.TV.

“They have made themselves available so I have no doubt they’re going to give 100 per cent and they are going to represent the team with all their heart and soul.”

Given their presence in the team that will also boast a bowling attack that includes Rayad Emrit and Khary Pierre, Ramdin said the Red Force are in good position to win the title this year.

“It’s very important that we try to win the tournament this year. We didn’t do too well last year coming out of the group stages so hopefully, we can go a few steps further.”

The full squad is Denesh Ramdin (Captain), DJ Bravo (Vice-Captain), Jason Mohammed, Imran Khan, Khary Pierre, Lendl Simmons, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo, Sunil Narine, Ravi Rampaul, Rayad Emrit, Kyle Hope and Nicholas Pooran.

This year’s Super50 Cup will be staged in Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados that will also host the semi-finals and final stages. T&T open their campaign against the Windward Islands at the Queens Park Oval on Wednesday, October 3.

West Indies will be without all-rounder Keemo Paul for the first Test against India, with Miguel Cummins called up as his replacement.

Paul has been ruled out with an injury to his left ankle and the 21-year-old will remain in Antigua to continue his rehabilitation.

Experienced Cummins, who made his Test debut in a series against India three years ago, taking a career-best 6-48 in the second innings of the second match, features in the 13-man squad in Paul's absence.

"With Keemo ruled out for this match, it’s good to have someone with Miguel's quality back in the squad, as he brings experience to the team," Windies interim head coach Floyd Reifer said.

"Watching him in the last A Team series against India A and the training sessions his lengths have improved. He's a very hard worker and a wicket-taker. I'm sure, if given the opportunity to play, he will make a valuable contribution in our bid to win this series."
