St. Lucia’s Julien Alfred won the silver medal in the women’s 100m at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Monday.

The 17-year-old Alfred, who on Friday won her Stage 1 heat in 11.99s while running into a headwind of -1.8m/s, was second in her Stage 2 heat in 11.23 losing to gold medalist Nigeria’s Rosemary Chukuma who clocked 11.17s.

Chukuma won her Stage 1 heat on Friday in 12.03s

Third was  Ecuador’s Gabrielle Anahi Suarez (11.29).

The sprinters were aided by a wind of 3.3m/s.
