Ackera Nugent and Akeem Cargill won Jamaica’s first medals on day one of the 2019 Pan American U20 Championships in Costa Rica on Friday.

Jamaica have continued their strong showing at the NACAC Under-18 and Usnder-23 National Championships in Mexico as day two’s morning session came to an end on Saturday.

Coach of the red-hot Ackera Nugent, Douglas Williams, says he plans to ‘cool off’ the talented sprint hurdler, who on Saturday broke the U18 world record for the 100m hurdles (76.2) at the Youngster Goldsmith track meet at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Though grateful, Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent said she regretted not running just a bit faster during Stage 1 of the 100m hurdles at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics now on in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
