A number of Jamaican athletes, who were unable to collect their medals at the Catifta Games in the Bahamas in April were awarded those medals on Monday by the President of the Bahamas Association of Athletics Associations (BAAA) Rosamunde Carey in Kingston.

Jamaica’s Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange has heaped praises on Jamaica’s highly successful team at the recently concluded Carifta Games, held in the Bahamas.

Courtney Wallace, the manager of The Bahamas athletics team to the just-concluded 2018 Carifta Games said that while his country's athletes met expectations, keeping the core together for next year is essential if they are to close the gap between themselves and perennial powerhouse Jamaica.

Jamaica extended its winning streak of the Carifta Games to 34 consecutive years following a dominating performance at the 2018 edition held at the Thomas A Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.

Ato Boldon, coach of Briana Williams, the three-time 2018 Carifta Games gold medalist, was full of praise for the sprinter who on Monday was presented with the Austin Sealy Award for her standout performances at the Games held in Nassau, Bahamas.
