Jamaican sprint hurdler Janeek Brown set a new personal best in the 100m at the inaugural National Relay Championships in Arkansas on Saturday when she also clocked a pretty smart time in the 100m hurdles.

The former Wolmerian, now a freshman at the University of Arkansas, opened with a windy 12.73s in the sprint hurdles in which she was second to Jasmin Camacho-Quinn of the University of Kentucky who won in 12.53.

Brown’s Jamaican compatriot Rushelle Burton was third even though she was credited with the same time. That race was just a warm up for the talented freshman who warm-up a number of school records since she joined the Razorbacks.

She unleashed a personal best 11.34s for the 100m to finish second in her heat, the fourth fastest time of the meet. Ka’Tia Seymour (11.24) won the Brown’s heat.

Brown’s time bettered the wind-aided 11.49s she ran last week at the LSU Alumni Gold meeting.
