TTO sprinter Michelle Lee Ahye facing abuse charges in Texas - report

Michelle-Lee Ahye, the 2018 Commonwealth Games 100m champion is facing domestic abuse charges in Texas, the Trinidad Guardian is reporting.

According to the Guardian, police arrested the sprinter on June 20 on a charge of as­sault caus­ing bod­i­ly in­jury. She was released on June 21 and is to appear in court at a later date.

It is not clear whether the charge is in relation to Ahye’s wife, Chelsea Renee or someone else. Ahye and Renee were married in May 2018.

In a now-deleted post on social media under the name @ chels_is_chosen, believed to be Ahye’s partner, and under a picture of the athlete were the words “You’re a manipulative…abusive…habitual cheater. I pray God gives me the strength to get through this time in my life. I don’t regret anything in my life but marrying you was most definitely one of them.”
