Andwuelle Wright sets NR on way to gold at NACAC U18/U23 Championships

Trinidad and Tobago’s Andwuelle Wright set a new national record on his way to the gold medal on Friday’s opening day of the NACAC Under 18 and U23 Championships in Queretaro, Mexico.

Meanwhile, Barbados’ Shanice Hutson won gold in the discus.

 Wright, the 2018 CAC bronze medal flew out to 8.25m, breaking his own national record of 8.23m set in Port-of-Spain on June 23, 2018.

Jamaica’s Shawn-D Thompson and Wayne Pinnock were second and third, respectively with jumps of 8.05m and 7.97m.

Hutson powered the discus out to a mark of 42.02m to claim her country’s first medal at the 2019 edition of the championships. Alejandra Jas Rosales took the silver medal with 41.93m while Carolina Quiñonez took the bronze medal with her best effort of 37.58m.
