Danniel Thomas-Dodd is, not surprisingly, Jamaica’s national champion in the discus, claiming the title at the country’s trials for the World Championships on Saturday.

Thomas-Dodd was winning her sixth consecutive Shot Put National title, following up on what she did in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The powerhouse, World Indoor silver medallist in 2018, threw the discus out to 18.59 metres, destroying the field, with the the closes to her being Lloydricia Camero who could only manage 16.89 metres.

Third in the event was Nayoka Clunis, who threw 16.34 metres.

Thomas-Dodd began slowly, throwing 17.90 metres, which would have been good enough to win but improved to her eventual best with her fourth throw, the only one over the 18-metre mark.
