By March 01, 2019

Multiple Olympic medallist Veronica Campbell-Brown has given birth to a daughter.

Just months after the two-time Olympic champion announced her pregnancy she delivered Avianna Amora Brown on February 23.

“Thank you Jesus for blessing us with this precious gift,” the veteran athlete posted on Instagram whose daughter weighed six pounds four ounces at birth.

Campbell is the third elite female Jamaican sprinter in the past four years to have become a mother, following Sherone Simpson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

The iconic sprinter received dozens of congratulatory responses to her Instagram post.

Among them 2016 double Olympic gold medalist Elaine Thompson, Novelene Williams-Mills, Omar McMcLeod, Ristanana Tracey, and Shericka Williams. Commonwealth Games medalist Alia Atkinson also offered her congratulations as did recently retired US Olympic hurdles star Dawn Harper and retired Canadian star athlete Perdita Felicien.
