Levern Spencer won the Women’s high jump at the 2018 CAC Games in Barranquilla, Colombia on Thursday to hand St. Lucia its first medal of the Games.

Spencer cleared 1.90m to win her third consecutive CAC title. She said afterwards it was her goal to defend her high jump title once more.

“I thank God for allowing me to win the gold. I wanted to make sure I came here to defend my title,” she said.

The silver medal went to Mexico’s Xemina Esquivel Guzman (1.86m) while Maria Murillo Duerte (1.86m) took the bronze medal.

The single gold medal moved St. Lucia into 18th spot on the medal table.
