2015 100m world champion won her first Diamond League race in Oslo on Thursday but says she is yet to run her best this season.

On May 31 in Rome, Williams (12.82) was second to the USA’s Sharika Nelvis (12.76) but this time she went one better delivering a season’s best 12.60s, a time tied for the 10th best in the world this year. Second was Alina Talay of Belarus (12.63) while the USA’s Queen Harrison was third in 12.71.

Williams told SportsMax.TV afterwards that her performance in Oslo suggests she is getting closer to the race she wants to run.

“Every race is an opportunity to improve on the things I'm working on in practice. I'm able to execute quite well in practice but it hasn't really come together in a race so far this season,” she said.

“But I was able to not make some of the little mistakes that I have been making and the result is a much better-executed race and a season's best. So that was the focus coming into the race, trying to put together a technically sound race and to just have some fun.”

She has another chance to get even more things right when she races in Stockholm on Sunday.
