No Antonio, as 24-man Reggae Boyz squad named for final three World Cup qualifiers Featured

Interim Reggae Boyz Head Coach Paul Hall has named a 24-man squad for the final three FIFA World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador, Canada and Honduras.

Notably absent are West Ham forward Michail Antonio, Brentford FC Ethan Pinnock or Junior Flemmings, however, the oft-injured Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey has been recalled now that he has recovered from his recent injury issues.

Spartak Moscow’s Shamar Nicholson is apparently still unavailable for the national side.

The squad includes goalkeepers Andre Blake, Dillon Barnes and Amal Knight, defenders Damion Lowe, Richard King, Adrian Mariappa, Javain Brown, Gregory Leigh, Jamoi Topy, and Ricardo Thomas, midfielders Alex Marshall, Nicholas Nelson, Tarick Ximines, Lamar Walker, and Dwayne Atkinson, and forwards Leon Bailey, Andre Gray, Daniel Green, and Ataphardy Bygrave.

Jamaica plays El Salvador at the National Stadium in Kingston on Thursday, March 24 before playing Canada in Canada on March 27. The team then returns to Jamaica for its final match against Honduras on March 30.

Having lost their last three games, Jamaica lies seventh in the eight-team standings with seven points from 11 matches and has no chance of making the top three that automatically qualify for the World Cup later this year. As it stands, Canada, the United States and Mexico hold those top-three positions with Panama, in fourth, looking likely for a playoff with a team from Oceana for a place in Qatar.
