Suriname and Guatemala are well on their way to the next round of the Concacaf World Cup qualifiers, as they assured themselves a top-two finish following contrasting victories in their respective groups on Friday.

Guatemala made it three wins in as many games with a 4-2 win over the Dominican Republic as they moved to nine points atop Group E, three points ahead of Jamaica, who are scheduled for action on Saturday. The Dominican Republic remain third on three points but are out of contention.

Hat-trik hero Óscar Santis gave Guatemala an early sixth-minute lead in the lively contest at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City.

Santis made no mistakes from close range as he connected with a cross from José Morales. Dorny Romero equalized for the Dominican Republic in the 16th with a composed finish in front of goal.

Heinz Mörschel pushed the visitors ahead with a 36th-minute strike, as they went to the break 2-1 up. However, Nicolás Samayoa responded for Guatemala in the 53rd before Santis grabbed a second in the 59th to put the host back in front.

Santis then completed his hat-trick in the 62nd, with a right-footed shot from outside of the box.

The Central Americans will conclude their campaign against Jamaica on Tuesday, while the Dominican Republic will conclude its campaign against Dominica (three points).

Meanwhile, Suriname also made it three-in-three in Group F with a 1-0 win over Puerto Rico in Group F at Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion in Paramaribo.

Jaden Montnor notched the all-important strike in the 779th minute when he expertly headed home from Denzel Jubitana's cross.

With the victory, Suriname consolidated the top spot on nine points, now five points clear of Puerto Rico (four points), who are now in a battle for the runner-up spot with El Salvador (four points), who will be in action on Saturday.

Suriname will conclude its campaign against El Salvador on Tuesday, while Puerto Rico will meet St Vincent and the Grenadines in what will be an important contest.
