Bravo scored an even 100 against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes.
Former West Indies Test batsman Darren Bravo scored an even 100 to lay the foundation for Trinidad and Tobago Red Force’s first innings total of 369-8 at stumps on the second day of the West Indies Championship second round match against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at North Sound on Thursday.
The Red Force resumed from their overnight score of 151-3 with Bravo on 74 and Yannic Cariah at the other end on 32.
They extended their fourth-wicket stand of 69 to 101 when Colin Archibald trapped Cariah leg before wicket with the score at 186. Shortly after, Archibald dismissed Tion Webster for six as TT Red Force slipped to189-5.
Bravo and Jangoo set about repairing the damage but the score had reached 227, Bravo was bowled by Sheeno Berridge for exactly 100. He had faced 229 balls and hit 10 fours and two sixes.
Jangoo and Imran Khan began a lower-order rally adding 51 for the seventh wicket when Jeremiah Louis dismissed Jangoo for 52.
Khan assumed the role of senior batter and together with Terrance Hinds put on 81 for the eighth wicket as Trinidad progressed past 300 runs and began to push towards 400.
Hinds was eventually dismissed by Kofi James for a run-a-ball 51.
At stumps, Khan remains not out on 68. At the other end Khary Pierre is not on nine as the match heads into its third day.
Louis has so far taken 3-56 and Berridge 2-78. Archibald has 2-83.
Mindley and Blades replace Forde and Joseph in squad for Bangladesh ODIs
Fast bowlers Marquino Mindley and Jediah Blades have been drafted into the West Indies Men’s ODI squad for the three match CG United series against Bangladesh in St Kitts & Nevis as replacements for Matthew Forde and Shamar Joseph, respectively.
The medical team, on further assessment, determined that Forde must continue rehabilitation from a a sustained injury while Joseph is suffering from shin splints following the completion of the recent test series and will be monitored by the medical staff ahead of future assignments.
Mindley bagged the most wickets as a fast bowler in the recent CG United Super 50 tournament with 20 to earn his maiden call up while Blades, who is part of the West Indies Academy, took 14 wickets in the regional tournament to receive his first call up to the squad.
The two will join the rest of the squad on Thursday evening.
The first ODI is scheduled for Sunday, December 8 at Warner Park.
Rickelton and Kumara impress in even start to Gqeberha Test
Ryan Rickelton hit his maiden ton for South Africa, but some impressive bowling from Lahiru Kumara ensured day one of the second Test versus Sri Lanka was an even affair.
South Africa reached stumps at 269-7, propelled by Rickelton's first century in eight red-ball appearances and a speedy 78 from captain Temba Bavuma.
The hosts were left teetering on 44-3 in the morning session after choosing to bat first, with Kumara trapping Aiden Markram (20) lbw for his 100th Test wicket, then dismissing Tristan Stubbs (4) four overs later.
Bavuma restored a sense of calm with his third successive half-century, but South Africa were rocking again at 186-5, Asitha Fernando having Bavuma caught for his second wicket of the day before Prabath Jayasuriya dismissed David Bedingham for six.
However, Rickelton and Kyle Verreynne put on 77 for South Africa's sixth wicket of the day, before Sri Lanka star Kumara ended the former's landmark outing when his outside edge found Pathum Nissanka, and Marco Jansen (5) was cleaned out by Vishwa Fernando with the final ball of the day.
Verreynne (48 not out) and Keshav Maharaj will now resume at the crease on day two, with Sri Lanka bidding to halt a three-match losing streak against the Proteas.
Data Debrief: Landmarks for Rickelton and Kumara
South Africa and Sri Lanka each had a player with something to celebrate on the opening day of the Gqeberha Test.
Rickelton's previous high score in Tests was a knock of 42 versus Bangladesh on the same ground in April 2022, but his watchful 101 off 205 deliveries – featuring 11 fours – dragged the hosts out of some early trouble.
Kumara was the man to end his time at the crease, having earlier reached a century of Test wickets. He became the ninth man to take 100 wickets for Sri Lanka in the format, with 87 of those coming away from home.
Victoria through to Global Super League final after 75-run demolition of Hampshire Hawks
Victoria became the first team to advance to the final of the inaugural staging of the Global Super League thanks to a 75-run win over the Hampshire Hawks at Providence in Guyana on Thursday.
Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Blake Macdonald starred to lead the Australian side to 170-4 from their 20 overs after being put in to bat by Hawks skipper Chris Wood.
Krishnamurthi led the way with 77 off 49 balls including seven fours and four sixes while opening partner Macdonald made 59 off 43 balls including five fours and two sixes as the pair put on 137 in 15 overs for the first wicket.
Pacer Sonny Baker took 2-29 from his four overs while the other two wickets came from Benny Howell and Liam Dawson.
In reply, the Hawks were skittled out for just 95 in 12.1 overs at Callum Stow ripped through the batting line-up with his left-arm wrist spin on the way to figures of 4-17 from 3.1 overs.
Jackson Smith supported with 2-28 from three overs.
Six Hampshire batsmen reached double figures but none were able to carry on to a big score, the highest being Joe Weatherley’s 18.
After three wins out of their four games, Victoria will now have the chance to be the first champions of the Global Super League when they play the final on Friday.
Their opponent in the final will be determined later today when the Lahore Qalandars take on the Rangpur Riders.
The Qalandars and Riders are currently third and fourth on the points table with four points and two points, respectively, while the Guyana Amazon Warriors currently occupy second with four points and a superior net run rate to Lahore.
The Amazon Warriors have already played their four games.
