Jamaica’s Christania Williams and Dominica’s Thea LaFond delivered winning performances at the IV Meeting Internazionale Città di Lucca in Italy on Sunday.
Williams, the 2016 Olympic 100m finalist, stormed to victory in the women’s 100m with a season’s best time of 11.42 seconds (+1.4 m/s). The Jamaican sprinter held off a late charge from Chile’s María Ignacia Montt, who finished second in 11.46, while Portugal’s Arialis Gandulla took third in 11.51.
In the women’s triple jump, Commonwealth Games champion Thea LaFond of Dominica continued her strong 2025 campaign with a winning leap of 14.45m (-1.4 m/s). The performance once again underlined her consistency so far this season. Bulgaria’s Gabriela Petrova was close behind with 14.35m (+0.1), while Belgium’s Ilona Masson secured third with 13.77m (+0.6).
Jamaica’s Kimberly Williams, also competing in the triple jump, finished fifth with a best effort of 13.47m (-0.1).
