Thompson, Jackson and Broadbell among winners at Racers Grand Prix

Kishane Thompson, Shericka Jackson and Rasheed Broadbell all produced excellent performances to be among the winners at Saturday’s seventh staging of the Racers Grand Prix at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.

Thompson, a 100m silver medallist at the Paris Olympics, produced a seasons best 9.88 to take top spot ahead of countryman Oblique Seville who ran 9.97 in second. South African Gift Leotlela was third in 10.04.

Jackson, the second-fastest woman ever in the event, looked comfortable on her way to a seasons best 22.53 to win the 200m ahead of Canadian Audrey Leduc (22.80) and American Caisja Chandler (22.92).

The Men’s equivalent saw reigning Jamaican national champion Bryan Levell dominate the field on his way to a wind-aided 19.79 (2.5m/s) to take the win ahead of Christopher Taylor (20.39) and South African Naeem Jack (20.46).

Bryan Levell won the 200m in a wind-aided 19.79.

Olympic bronze medallist Rasheed Broadbell produced a meet record 13.06 to narrowly take the Men’s 110m hurdles ahead of 2024 winner Trey Cunningham of the USA (13.08) while another American, Eric Edwards Jr, was third in 13.40.

American Alia Armstrong produced a meet record-equaling 12.54 to win the Women’s 100m hurdles ahead of Bahamian World Indoor champion and record holder Devynne Charlton (12.65).

Armstrong’s countrywoman Alexandra Webster was third in a personal best 12.95.

Two-time World Under-20 100m champion Tina Clayton ran a seasons best 10.98 to take the Women’s 100m ahead of American Jacious Sears (11.04) and 2024 World U-20 100m champion Alana Reid (11.16).

World and Olympic finalist and World U-20 record holder Roshawn Clarke took the win in the Men’s 400m hurdles in 48.65 ahead of countrymen Assinie Wilson (48.77) and Malik James-King (49.87).

Roshawn Clarke won the 400m hurdles in 48.65.

Barbadian Tia-Adana Belle took the win in the Women’s equivalent in 55.74 ahead of Jamaican Sanique Walker who ran a personal best 55.78 and the USA’s Bianca Stubler who ran 56.52.

American Chris Bailey won on Jamaican soil for the second time this season with 44.74 to take the A-final of the Men’s 400m ahead of Jamaican Delano Kennedy who ran a personal best 45.22 in second and American Elija Godwin who was third in a 45.43.

Jamaican Jeremy Bembridge took the B-final in 46.07 ahead of Bahamian Wendel Miller (46.55) and Trinidadian Roshane Symister (47.51).

The Women’s final went to American Lynna Irby-Jackson in a seasons best 50.23 ahead of Jamaican Stacey-Ann Williams (50.56) and Barbadian Sada Williams (51.65).

Lynna Irby-Jackson ran 50.23 to win the 400m.

Jonielle Smith ran a season’s best 11.10 to take the win in the B-final of the Women’s 100m ahead of Kashieka Cameron (11.33) and Jura Levy (11.34) while Sandrey Davison took the men’s B-final in a seasons best 10.07.

Kadrian Goldson took second in a seasons best 10.10 while Deandra Daley was third in 10.19.

In the field, Cuban Davisleydi Velazco produced 14.26m to win the Women’s Triple Jump ahead of Jamaican Ackelia Smith (13.83m) and Guyana’s Natricia Hooper (13.32m).

World Championship and Olympic silver medallist Wayne Pinnock produced 7.97m to take the win in the Men’s Long Jump ahead of Guyana’s Emmanuel Archibald (7.83m) and the USA’s Jeremiah Davis (7.80m).
