George Ledgister, acting Executive Director of INSPORTS, has hailed the participation of Devon Biscuits as the title sponsor for its Primary Athletics Championships.
“This year’s staging was really good, and we really do appreciate the effort and the help that Devon Biscuits has put into the event. We’re looking for bigger and better things next year,” Ledgister stated in a media release.
INSPORTS/Devon Biscuits All-Island Primary Athletics championships came to an end on May 31 with the staging of the national championships at the National Stadium in Kingston where Lyssons Primary from St Thomas emerged victorious.
“Over 100 primary schools participated with more than 2,000 athletes. This was the third year that Devon Biscuits partnered with us, and they have really helped to promote the event. We do appreciate what they have done,” said Ledgister.
Lesia Dennis Jackson, head coach of Lyssons Primary also hailed the biscuit company for its efforts in promoting youth excellence in sports.
“I’m feeling elated by our win, and I must commend my coaches, they did an extremely good job working with the kids. We found our team strategy and ensured that the athletes were motivated,” said Mrs. Dennis Jackson.
She added, “Devon Biscuits has been doing an amazing job, and I would encourage them to continue investing in the future of the stars of tomorrow.”
Sherene Bryan, Brand Manager – Devon Biscuits said the partnership with the INSPORTS/Devon Biscuits All-Island Primary Athletics championship has allowed her company to directly engage with its core demographic.
“Over the past three years, the association with the primary champs has provided Devon Biscuits with a platform to engage directly with young audiences. The partnership has helped to reinforce our position as a brand that is committed to fostering youth development and while aligning with youth development and sporting excellence,’ said Bryan.
Devon Biscuits invested more than J$21 million into the staging of the event over the past three years. The company also provided cash prizes to the winning schools, top boy and top girl at both the regional and grand finals.
Said Bryan, “We have prided ourselves as the brand that supports, encourages, and protects the sustainability of institutions that hold youth development at the forefront.”
