Jamaica's Shannon Kalawan wins 2018 Div. 2 Indoor 400-metre title
Former Edwin Allen one-lap hurdler Shannon Kalawan won the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships 400-metre title at the JDL Fasttrack facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Monday evening.
Kalawan, a Jamaican who is a freshman at Saint Augustine’s University crossed the line in a personal best 55.94 to secure the conference title ahead of Johnson C Smith’s Kianje Pollard (56.24). Kalawan’s teammate Amanda Crawford was third in 56.93.
The win means Kalawan would have her second title of the championships having been a member of St. Augustine’s distance medley team that won the gold medal on Sunday.
