CPL: Fidel Edwards targets 2018 return
Barbadian pacer Fidel Edwards has declared himself available for the next Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season and hopes to represent his home nation Barbados Tridents.
The 35-year-old, who last played in the tournament three years ago but for the St Lucia Zouks, has targeted increased participation in the shortest format of the game. The fast bowler has spent the last few seasons competing for English county side Hampshire as a Kolpak signing. In 2015 the pace bowler took 45 Championship wickets to help the team stave off relegation from Division One.
According to Edwards he had hoped to take part in the regional tournament last season, but was hit was setback after breaking his ankle during a football match in training.
“I would love to put my name back in the auction. I wasn’t available last year because of injury, but I am eager to play this year. From the first time CPL was launched, I wanted to play for Barbados, but it just didn’t happen. Hopefully, I can get the chance to play for Barbados this year,” Edwards told Nation News.
“My aim is to play more T20 cricket this year. CPL is high on the agenda.”
