WPCL: Miller bags 10 as Jamaica Scorpions breeze past Hurricanes

Nikita Miller

Returning skipper Nikita Miller claimed a match haul of 10 wickets as the Jamaica Scorpions secured a commanding 158 runs win over the Leeward Islands Hurricanes in the WPCL Regional 4-Day competition at Warner Park on Sunday.

Chasing a total of 301 for victory, the Leewards led by 30 apiece from opener Montcin Hodge and Terance Ward crumbled for 144 for 9 in pursuit of the target.  In similar circumstances to the first innings Miller proved to be unplayable claiming a second innings haul of 5 for 32.  After removing Hodge for 30 at the top of the order, the spinner demolished the Leewards middle order adding Ward, Nkrumah Bonner (3), Jahmah Hamilton (13) and Rahkeem Cornwall to his long list of victims.

In between Miller’s wickets solid work with the ball from Damion Jacobs, who claimed 3 for 66, and dismissed a settled looking Devon Thomas for 25 off 46 balls, also helped take apart the Leewards resistance.  Only Thomas, Hodge, Ward, Hamilton and Cornwall managed double figure for the Leewards batsman.  Earlier the Leewards dismissed the Scorpions for 192 all out in their second turn at the crease.Returning skipper Nikita claimed a match haul of 10 wickets as the Jamaica Scorpions secured a commanding 158 runs win over the Leeward Islands Hurricanes in the WPCL Regional 4-Day competition at Warner Park on Sunday.
