Hublot releases special edition timepiece to commemorate Bolt retirement
Luxury watchmakers Hublot have released yet another timepiece for recently retired sprint superstar Usain Bolt, this time in tribute to the Jamaican’s legendary achievements following his recent retirement from the sport.
The timepiece giants have never been shy of creating showpieces for its famous spokesperson and the two-piece commemorative set dubbed the ‘Hublot Big Bang Sapphire Chronograph Unico Limited Edition Usain Bolt Victory Set’ is set to be the latest addition to the line.
On this occasion only eight of the limited edition timepieces will be produced, one for each of the Jamaican’s eight Olympic gold medals. The luxury timepieces will feature a 45-mm diameter case, made from polished transparent sapphire and opens to Hublot’s Unico calibre HUB1242 movement.
The automatic chronograph has a power reserve of 72 hours. On the watch face, the second hand on the black dial features golden markings shaped like lightning, in reference to the recently retired sprint star’s famous nickname. The crown and push buttons are 18 carat gold with the same colour carried over to the calf leather strap embossed in homage to the Jamaican flag. The inside of the strap is made from rubber for the wearer’s comfort. It is held by a titanium and yellow gold clasp.
Each of the watches will be delivered in a box including a pair of signed Puma Gold sprinting spikes, the same shoes worn by Bolt during his final Olympic Games in 2016. The proceeds from the sale of all the watches will go to the Usain Bolt Foundation.
