Bailey likely to suit up for Jamaica against Suriname next month - JFF

By October 11, 2018

Leon Bailey should don Jamaica’s colours when the Reggae Boyz take on Suriname at the National Stadium in Kingston on November 17 in Montego Bay.

This latest development comes following the latest talks between the Jamaica Football Federation, the player and his agent and father, Craig Butler, on Tuesday. However, the elder Butler is also seeking to have his son Kyle called to the national squad as a condition of Bailey accepting his invitation. The JFF say they cannot to commit to such a condition.

JFF General Secretary Dalton Wint made the revelation during an interview on the SportsMax Zone on Thursday.

Wint was responding to questions regarding a report that emanated from the United Kingdom earlier this week that claimed that Bailey would be selected to play for Jamaica against Bonaire in the CONCACAF Nations League on Sunday, October 14.

The JFF general secretary told SportsMax.TV earlier this week that Bailey was not down to represent Jamaica in that match. He also said discussions were ongoing between the player, his agents and the JFF.

On Thursday, Wint told hosts George Davis and Lance Whittaker that they are not ruling out the possibility that Kyle Butler would again be invited to represent the Reggae Boyz.

The younger Butler, he said, was invited to play against Antigua and Barbuda in a friendly at Sabina Park on March 25. However, he was unable to accept the invitation at that time.
