Scorpions, Pride the best of the bunch – Ambrose
West Indies bowling great Sir Curtly Ambrose has refused to lean one way or the other in picking a winner for Saturday’s WICB regional Super50 final between the Jamaica Scorpion and Barbados Pride, but was quick to concede that the best two squads had made the grand finale.
The Pride made short work of a promising Leewards squad in Thursday’s semi-final, while the Scorpions demolished Trinidad and Tobago a day prior to set-up what many expect to be a high powered face-off.
The teams have so far flexed their muscles on a number of occasions. While it is the Jamaica team that has posted the highest total in the competition the Pride are responsible for five of the top ten highest scores in the competition. The teams also top the charts for the highest margins of defeat, with Jamaica registering a 292 run win over Trinidad and Tobago in the semi-final, while the Barbadians earlier registered a 200 runs victory over the Combined Colleges and Campuses.
“I believe the Barbados Pride and the Jamaica Scorpions are well deserving of being in the final they have been the most consistent team,” Ambrose said.
“I think we are in for an exciting finals because both teams are evenly matches in my opinion and neither of them will give an inch so I am expected an exciting final.
The teams competed against each other in Group B and split their head to head records with a victory each. Barbados went on to top the group.
